An Alcohol Addicted Person Enrolls In Rehab And Receives Alcohol Detox And Rehabilitation For His Alcohol Dependency
Donald used to boast to his friends how he could stay employed at a full-time job and get intoxicated almost every night. Regrettably, after involving himself in this party lifestyle for just about four-and-a-half years, he began to display various alcohol related problems.
For example, he had a real difficult time getting up for work because he felt so exhausted when he got up. Not only this, but virtually every morning Donald had an intense hangover. It was apparent that the combination of his lack of get-up-and-go and his hangovers did not make it easy for him to get up and feel motivated to go to work. To make matters worse, nearly a week ago he got his second drunk driving arrest in the past year-and-a-half.
To further compound things, at his job his last two performance appraisals were less than acceptable. And lastly, his relationship with his girlfriend had gotten worse due to his angry outbursts, depression, lack of patience, and his financial difficulties.
Although Donald was only twenty-three years old, he honestly started looking like he was in his mid forties. Unfortunately, this is what abusive and irresponsible drinking can do to a person. And in truth he grasped the fact that he was experiencing the adverse outcomes of alcohol dependency or alcohol abuse and that he was too young to fritter away his life to careless and excessive drinking. So at first he tried to drink in moderation. Regrettably, he soon found out that he lost his self control after consuming his first drink. Since this was a situation that was repeated every time he went to a bar to drink, this greatly disturbed him. In actual fact, he began to wonder if he was displaying some of the stages of alcoholism.
After articulating his alcohol drinking problems and his irresponsible drinking with his girlfriend, he eventually made up his mind to make an appointment to see his physician. When Donald saw his healthcare practitioner, he frankly declared that he has been drinking in a hazardous manner, that he may be exhibiting behavior characteristic of the various alcoholism stages, and that he wants to abstain from drinking. He said that drinking in moderation does not work for him and as a result, he wants to learn how he can create an alcohol-free lifestyle.
Donald also told his physician about his depression and how this mental health problem was negatively affecting his relationship with his lady friend. His doctor referred Donald to Doctor Plaff, a drug and alcohol addiction specialist, who convinced Donald to enter into an alcohol and drug treatment clinic as an in-patient for alcohol detox and alcohol rehabilitation. The good news is that Donald would also be able to get medical treatment for his depression at this facility.
After five months of intensive rehab, Donald left the in-patient treatment facility and continued his recovery via going to local Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and via outpatient therapy. Motivated to change his life in a more positive way, Donald joined a fitness center and began working out two or three times per week. Within seven months Donald was a new man. He was not depressed anymore, he was in shape, he was eating nutritious meals, and most significant of all, he maintained his sobriety for many months. He also became more patient, he did not resort to angry outbursts, and he became a more loving person in his relationship with his lady friend. In brief, quitting drinking was the best decision Donald had ever made.
